SUMMARY:Ride to RC Baker Museum in Coalinga with lunch at The Harris Ranch Kitchen Resturant
DESCRIPTION:Another new places!  Road Ride to R.C. Baker Memorial Museum in Coalinga with lunch at the Harris Ranch Kitchen Resturant.  (check out the menu) \nThis museum is a living collection that changes every time somebody brings something in. We don’t throw things away out here. Everything you see has been donated. The Museum is dedicated to preserving the story of the Pleasant Valley. From fossil and mastodon displays to Indian artifacts and the personal belongings of the pioneer families\, and the saga of oil\, sheep\, and cattle is told through the lives of the men\, women and families who made it all happen. The lush San Joaquin Valley was a vast\, inland sea\, creating fossil beds around Coalinga that are among the largest in the world. The museum is home to a survivor of that period\, a petrified snail\, 15 inches long\, 11 inches high and 13 inches wide. The museum occupies a space that once housed the first Baker Oil Tools machine shop. Mr. Baker purchased the former livery stable in 1918 so he would have a place to work out his equipment designs. It was on this floor that he would get down on his hands and knees with a blacksmith named Herman James (Helen Cowan’s Father) and drew his plans in yellow chalk. The Baker Foundation offered the old tool shop to the city for use as a museum in 1958. In 1961 the Museum officially opened. The original by-laws of the museum reflect the pioneering spirit of Coalinga. \nSell only items made in and around Coalinga; try to avoid applying for government grants so as to retain our independence; the public comes first; keep the museum open every day; let people feel and touch the exhibits; keep the cost of the annual dinner to minimum. \nThe R.C. Baker Memorial Museum is a collective memory of a community that helped fuel the American century. It is about the people who worked the land and created a spirit that has survived both the good and bad times. \nSince last month was a Saturday ride south we’ll make this month’s a Sunday Ride north.  We’ll start from The Black Horse Coffee Shop\, 1065 Higuera St\, San Luis Obispo\, CA 93401.  Sign up at 8:30 AM\, kick stands up at 9:00 AM.  We’ll meet the North county riders at Santa Margarita Park at 9:15 AM  This is an AMA Sanctioned Road Ride #75583 free to paid up members\, $10.00 otherwise.  We’ll eat first and the museum opens at 1:00 pm.

DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Celebrate vintage motorcycles in Monterey! Swap meet\, bike show\, road racing\, sidecar racing\, flat track\, vintage/post-motocross and observed trials. Family-friendly fun! \nCome experience the AHRMA Classic MotoFest™ of Monterey\, where vintage and modern road racing\, trials competitions\, flat track and motocross racing will take place all in one weekend WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca!    Scheduled for July 15-17\, 2022\, this event will include a swap meet\, bike show\, cycle corral (which includes a track walk and parade lap) and other family friendly activities. \nWith AHRMA’s mission of restoring and racing on and off-road vintage motorcycles while appealing to a diverse audience\, it’s an event that fits WeatherTech Raceway. The original Laguna Seca Raceway\, built in 1957 was funded by local businesses and individuals after the nearby Pebble Beach Road Races were abandoned for being too dangerous.  In 1974\, the property was deeded to the Monterey County Parks Department and is currently owned by Monterey County. \nAHRMA’s MotoFest weekend will appeal to a broad audience base whose interests lie in classic motorcycles and competition. The event features classes for motorcycles spanning pre-World War II up to modern single\, twin and triple-cylinder and electric-powered racers. It is more common to see some of these bikes in museums\, but AHRMA events are a unique opportunity for moto lovers of all ages to watch and enjoy heritage motorcycles in a very interactive experience for guests to enjoy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
